London

From Sheerness it was then on to Gravesend where I was able to get some very grateful help getting in and out of london by getting a lift on a Lifeboat.
A big thank you has to go out to the Gravesend crew and also the Chiswick crew who were able to get me into and out of London

At speed on the Gravesend Lifeboat, much safer than trying to cycle in and out of London with the trailer

While I was in London it only seemed right to do a little sight seeing.
So here are a few pictures of the places I managed to cycle to or saw while in London.

Diary update

Well, Sheerness proved to be a bit of a problem. The new Sheppey bridge had massive roadworks around it & I decided it made it too dangerous to cycle through. Along came my college friend Andy with his pick-up. Problem solved! The next day, at Gravesend, the Lifeboat Crew offered to give me a lift up river! We decided on Erith as a good place to off-load me & so I got a boost there - most of the way at 30 Knots! I realised on that day, that had I been a day earlier, I would have collided head-on with the London Marathon! As it was, crossing a good proportion of the capital in one day was a trying exercise in itself-especially with a 3ft 8in wide trailer! After Teddington I went on to Chiswick where the lads loaded me onto another 'E' class & took me down river to near the Tower Lifeboat Station. I met the gang there on the only floating Station there is! Nice people, all of them. Including Mat (who works at Chiswick, but lives at Greenwich) who I stayed with that night. (not many cam

psites in the City!) After a bit of sightseeing - back to Abbey Wood for some kip. Thanks to Frank and Trudie for their hospitality the next day & after the Tilbury/Gravesend ferry, more thanks to my relations - John and Joy for their hospitality.

After my little jaunt round london it back up the Thames with thats to the Chiswick crew so I could get back on track with the quest, see April part 2 for the next leg
